Recruiting your own personnel doesn’t stop once they’re recruited. After all, employees need to be engaged throughout their entire employee lifecycle. But which tech can help you successfully retain your people in 2023 and beyond?

Why focus on retention is important in 2023

On average, a company will experience an 18% employee turnover in one year. This could be due to performance issues or a lack of personal development opportunities. To stay ahead of recruitment competitors, it’s important to retain your employees when going into 2023. Losing too much talent could negatively impact your recruitment process.

Employees in the HR team are especially important for overseeing candidate experiences. If they don’t feel satisfied in their roles, it’s likely you’ll see a drop in job openings due to an unstable hiring process. Technology improves the candidate experience and helps current employees to expand their skills. You can use online platforms to show appreciation and recognition, while communication systems allow you to check up on employees and provide extra support when needed.

Which retention tech options are out there?

There are a few technical options to choose from when retaining employees. Below are some tools you can use to improve recruitment and employee performances.

1. Recruiting tools

Recruiting tools help to build a community among team members. You can focus on job boards, social media campaigns, skill development and apps to make everyone feel connected. Plus, technology is a key function in how people communicate and perform their jobs correctly.

One example is Mcdonald’s and how they use the social app Snapchat to attract and retain employees. The company in Canada knows that 80% of the 12 million people who use snapchat in Canada are millennials, meaning they are more eager to stay in a job and save money.

2. Performance evaluation

You should do performance evaluation tests to keep employees engaged. People want to be acknowledged for their hard work and determination in a role. Giving them both positive and negative feedback can encourage them to improve their skills when staying in the long term.

You could set benchmarks and goals or praise someone when they exceed company expectations.

Certain tech tools increase motivation among team members. You could set benchmarks and goals or praise someone when they exceed company expectations. Online programs will help with performance evaluation since everyone can view their progress at any point.

Facebook is an example of how companies use performance evaluation to support employees. This company holds semi-annual reviews that focus on employee-to-manager feedback. Everyone can continuously improve throughout the year instead of waiting for one big review.

3. Employee satisfaction surveys

A high employee turnover rate comes from the feeling of burn out or unappreciation. They don’t feel like their work has been recognised among the community. These feelings lead to poor work relationships, work-life balance and growth when it comes to developing their skills.

Consider asking for detailed feedback since employees may want to express any concerns or improvements.

37% of employees believe that recognition is most important. You can achieve this by creating employee satisfaction surveys that contain comprehensive questions. Consider asking for detailed feedback since employees may want to express any concerns or improvements.

Google has conducted four studies with 700 participants to understand employees on a deeper level. They found that doing these surveys and communicating ways to improve increased overall happiness among team members, which led to a 12% boost in their productivity.

4. Communication systems

Digital platforms are key to building strong communication. Employees can ask for clarity or gain more support if they work remotely. Popular programs like Slack and Teams are common in the workplace, but you should always choose an updated software that is easy to use for everyone.

Target is a huge retailing company that relies on Slack for communication. They have a network of more than 3,000 engineers who use this tool to discuss URLs, IP addresses and code. People are more likely to stay in the job if they can easily talk about their work with others.

5. Virtual and online training

40% of employees feel more productive when working from home. Not everyone can travel to training lessons or be in an office during busy schedules. This is why virtual training classes could engage employees further and even connect with candidates in a humanised way.

Salesforce collaborated with Coursera to provide online training and a free sales development certificate course. This 5-month course helps current employees to improve their skills selling products and feel more confident taking on managerial roles when furthering their career.

How to retain employees using recruitment tech

Following a few simple steps could increase the number of employees who want to stay in your company. Let’s take a look at ways to retain team members using recruitment technology.

1. Improve the onboarding process

Onboarding gives employees a first impression of your work culture. You can improve this process to make future employees more interested in career developments. Communicate roles, explain where resources are located and introduce them to other team members.

2. Monitor employee performance

Recognition and rewards are paramount elements in employee retention. In order for employees to be happy in their roles, you need to remind them of their accomplishments. Those who don’t feel appreciated may be more eager to leave when other opportunities arise.

3. Communicate regularly

Communication is a powerful tool that gets left behind. Teams who effectively communicate notice a 25% boost in their productivity and engagement. You can use online apps to reach out when needed, but employees are also human, so don’t forget to hold one-to-one meetings.

4. Promote development opportunities

Everyone wants that opportunity to grow in their role. Take advantage of job boards or social media campaigns that detail comprehensive skill developments. You’ll find that certain employees become eager to improve and strive for higher managerial roles in the company.

Retain your employees in 2023 and beyond using recruitment technology

Now is the time to retain your employees using the best recruitment technology. It’s important to stay aware of what employees want and how you can meet their needs.
