Stepping into the Nordics is a ‘logical next step’ for employment screening tool Validata

As any recruiter knows: what makes or breaks a company is the people working there. Employees are the foundation that the company is built upon and therefore determine the strength of its infrastructure and the integrity of its brand. People you can trust and rely on are crucial for any business, regardless of size, location, or sector. For the past eleven years, Validata has helped growing companies and recruitment firms to make the right hires by offering a wide variety of employee screenings.

Why is screening important?

“In a fast-changing and increasingly regulated corporate landscape, screenings have become an essential part of any recruitment process”, Validata’s CEO Harm Voogt says to Recruitment Tech. “But they can be difficult and time-consuming to perform. That’s why Validata’s software and online screening tools have been designed to ensure a seamless and efficient screening process for both the employer’s HR and compliance departments as well as the job applicant. Working with a team of privacy, legal, and HR experts, Validata helps businesses implement and organise the perfect pre-and in-employment screening solutions for you and your company. Whether you work in finance, healthcare, or the business service sector, Validata takes the otherwise tedious screening process off your hands and helps you make safe and smart hiring decisions.”

Harm Voogt, CEO Validata

The future of recruitment in combination with employment screening

“It’s not just employers that can benefit from our services. Recruitment firms have started embracing us, too. Recruiters are there to make sure a candidate is the right person for the job in terms of skills and company culture. We’re there to check the data.” And that can add a lot of value to a recruiter’s services, Voogt explains. “Clients, especially high-end businesses, are asking more and more of recruitment firms. As the market develops and digitizes, European companies are becoming more compliance driven. Offering more extensive screening, more detailed than a recruiter can do themselves, can be of great value in the recruiter’s commercial propositions.”

“Not only does Validata offer a great add-on to recruiters’ services, but it also ensures the quality of their process. It offers a more extensive look into job applicants, guaranteed to comply with all privacy and employment legislation. That not only adds value to recruiters’ services, it also frees them up to invest more time in what they do best”, Voogt adds.

Stepping into the Nordics

Based in Amsterdam, Validata is at the forefront of advancements in screening in continental Europe. “We’ve been working with big multinationals and other international companies for years, and a lot of our clients also use our services in many other countries especially northern Europe. That is why we’ve decided to branch out abroad, starting with Sweden”, Voogt explains.

“We felt it was important to start offering more local expertise to our international clients and partners, and Sweden was the perfect place for us to start doing that. With strong economic development and a market with a global mindset, the Nordics were a logical next step for us. We saw that Scandinavia wasn’t quite as far along in developing screening solutions as the Netherlands is, but that the recruitment culture over there is shifting towards more digitization and a more organized data infrastructure. With the added bonus of already serving a few Nordic clients and being able to partner up with a leading local recruitment firm, Boardtalk, we saw a great opportunity.”

Tackling the challenges ahead

Branching out into different fields and markets always comes with its own set of challenges, and the expansion of Validata into the Nordics is no exception to that. “It’s key to get a feel for the recruitment culture and to get to know the market and potential data partners,” Voogt says. “And you have to really grasp the local legislation and certifications, to make sure that your services are up to code. Luckily we’ve done it once before for the Dutch market. With our years of experience we know exactly what to look for in terms of compliance, and with the cultural know-how of our partner Boardtalk we’re very excited to start digging into the Swedish market.”
