Martyn Redstone: “Chatbots can be successful in many different parts of the recruitment process”

Martyn Redstone, keynote speaker at Demo_Day Europe this April, is working in the world of recruitment for the last sixteen years. For the last four years, he has been concentrating on chatbots and conversational AI. “I am fascinated by this topic and how this is a game-changer for recruiters that implement conversational automation.”

Are chatbots only for large organisations?

“When people first think of chatbots, they often think of high volume recruitment. But ultimately, chatbots can be successful in many different parts of the recruitment process. It’s certainly not out of the realm of SME. I think one of the biggest misconceptions people have is that chatbots are quite expensive. They’re not in all cases. Many also think that they are only for large multinationals, but they are not. They can be quite affordable and successful for many different organisations.”

How have chatbots evolved during the pandemic?

“I spend a lot of my time working with not only recruitment chatbots but also working with some of the best chatbots companies outside of the world of recruitment. What is interesting is that in the wider aspect of the pandemic, most organizations have accelerated their digital transformation by 6 or 7 years in a timeframe of 6 months. Which is scary fast, how some have been able to do that. In the use of chatbots, we have seen this globally too when we look at financial services, media companies and also and the world of recruitment. Of course, it was slightly different in each industry, but digitalization is the way to go for the coming years.”

What will your keynote be about?

“We are going to talk about chatbots and conversational AI. But the key point of my keynote is about how you create that right strategy and how to execute it. But we will also look at why chatbots are important, how you use them and how to select the right vendor. And more importantly, we are going to talk about how you can design a fantastic conversation with a chatbot. So if you are interested in chatbots in general, or anybody that’s thinking about implementing chatbots in their recruitment process come and listen.”
