Online assessments are increasingly being used by organizations because they are a good predictor of job performance. The market for (online) assessments will triple in the coming years, according to new research.

Booming business

According to Allied Market Research, we are only on the eve of the growth of assessments. We already know many interesting parties who help with assessments. In the supplier list of Recruitment Tech you can easily find the suppliers who offer assessments. But this is not the end of it. The international market for assessments will triple in the next ten years, according to the researchers. From $1.9 billion to $5.6 billion. “There is a need for efficiency and transparency in the recruitment process. A sharp increase in the use of pre-employment screening tests and an increase in Internet users are driving the growth of this global market,” the study states.

What are online assessments?

The popularity of online assessments in various fields of work speaks volumes about their usefulness and necessity. Online assessments evaluate an individual’s personality traits, skills and behaviors. They consist of a series of questions that assess multiple aspects of a participant and are designed based on the position, level and competency requirements. Assessments provide an objective evaluation of an employee’s abilities and predict performance in the workplace. People can take the assessments anywhere in the world, at their convenience, while saving travel time and costs.

Benefits of using assessments

Using online assessment tests is advantageous for many reasons. Not only can you estimate how well your applicants will perform in the position, but assessment tests also shorten the time it takes to hire a candidate – some reduce the time for a hire from 42 to five days. This is accomplished because you can avoid the extensive scanning of resumes and instead focus on the data you get from the online assessments. In this article, we will explore the benefits and disadvantages of using assessments.
