In ‘In the Spotlight’, a promising recruitment tech vendor will tell its story. Traits finder helps you to give your candidate full attention, while you were not there. Marco van Damme, Founder of the Amsterdam-based tech vendor, tells us more about the organisation.
For the people who don’t know Traits finder, can you tell us what it is? When is it founded and by who?
“We help organizations to find the best-suited candidate based on the core abilities looking at both hard and soft skills. We are genuine believers of ‘every business is defined by its people’. Employees are the heartbeat of any organization. This is why I founded Traits finder in June 2020.”
What are the main advantages?
“Due to the skill shift in the current labor market, companies nowadays are more and more interested in the soft skills, traits, of the (potential) employees than diplomas. We will train them the hard skills, so they say. Traits finder does exactly that. It gives you great insights on the traits of a person, the soft skills, based upon the Big5. The ever-changing hiring landscape forces companies to automate more parts of the hiring process, with Traits finder you are able to ‘interview and select’ candidates your way, without spending time on the phone.”
“You ask your candidate to have their first interview with your company in Traits finder anytime anywhere. With Traits finder as part of your hiring process, you save time in getting to know the candidate, and with the knowledge, you get about the candidate’s traits you will have a better, more in-depth ‘second’ interview.”
How does your software work for organizations that would like to use it?
“Traits finder does linguistic (Lexical) analyses and generates a personality profile based on the Big5 personality pillars and its facets ‘the traits’. The chatbot establishes a direct interaction, asking your questions to the candidate. This adds value to the candidate experience because your second interview will be more in-depth. You stay in the driver seat since you are able to create and customize both the chatbot and the pre-selection algorithm.”
“At this point, you will start to understand that you can actually steer too! You decide on the questions, the approach (level of formality), and the branding yourself. This way you will not be interfering with the company identity, but actually adding value.”
What kind of organizations could be using it?
“Traits finder saves time and reduces bias. The ideal Traits finder customer hires all year through and is open to innovation. They value their employees and have a positive candidate journey in high regard. Providing a personality profile to a candidate as an extra gift is a positive example. With Traits finder you can quickly innovate any hiring process. Inclusive Hiring, built team diversity and find the best fit for your teams.”
What makes it unique?
“Yes, Traits finder is fully customizable and easy to use. Yes, Traits finder is one of those chatbots. But Traits finder doesn’t work on decision trees or marble tracks, it does not care about how you answer. Traits finder has little to no bias and will deliver a great overview of the candidate’s personality traits. You have given your candidate full attention, while you were not there.”
What is your roadmap for 2021?
“Of course, we have an extensive wish list. Some born from our own ideas and insights, others from use cases. Traits finder was a Dutch Delegate with Techleap & Handelsroute on WebSummit Lisbon last December. We have made business connections from Japan to Canada where we are negotiating partner programs and signing up international clients.”
Where will Traits finder be in 5 years?
“The sky’s the limit. Automation in hiring will be bigger, we think we are a smart solution for all companies. Nobody can be sure what the future will bring and there are many uncertainties and possible global threats. But our ambitions are huge and we are riding a steady wave!”
