These days, HR personnel are swamped with so many tasks that managing all of their responsibilities can be a huge challenge. As well as promoting the brand of the organization when writing job descriptions, they are also responsible for sourcing candidates and analyzing the actions of their competitors.

There is one tool that is streamlining their work. The chatbot. In this article, find out all you need to know about chatbots, including their advantages, their drawbacks, and five recruitment chatbot examples.

What are chatbots?

Chatbots for recruitment are types of software that imitate human dialogues for recruitment purposes. They are also referred to as conversational agents or conversational interface platforms. Recruitment chatbots carry out the initial part of recruitment. They are responsible for the monotonous tasks that take up recruiters’ time and permit HR personnel to carry out more pressing, important jobs.

How do HR bots work?

Here’s how HR bot software works. They assist HR managers with recruitment using artificial intelligence and neural language processing.HR managers typically use them when they receive an application from a candidate via a job site. In this situation, an HR bot will begin a dialogue with the applicant. As well as being capable of asking candidates questions related to the applicant’s work history, they can gauge the capability of the candidate in line with the expectations of the job. However, there’s more.

An HR bot can consult your schedule to discover which dates you are available to schedule interviews. Once they’ve assessed your free slots, they can book interviews with your candidates that suit them as well. There’s even the option to have a chatbot address certain questions your candidates or applicants might have about the job.

Benefits of using HR bots

There are plenty of benefits when it comes to using an HR bot. Here are a few to keep in mind.

Save time with HR bots

If a candidate needs an answer quickly, to help them decide whether to accept employment with your company, an HR bot can make this happen.

While you are busy with other tasks, you can choose to let your chatbot answer questions instantly. Given that they are available for all hours of the day, this can come in handy if you have a candidate based halfway around the world looking for a remote role with your company.

Enhance the experience of the candidate

The logical consequence of instant replies is an improved candidate experience for all candidates. It means you won’t forget to respond to a top candidate who is waiting for a decision or a candidate who didn’t make the cut and needs to know whether to send more applications to other roles.

Issues of HR bots

However, these are some of the issues to keep an eye out for when using chatbots for recruitment.

Inability to interpret slang or abbreviations

Your candidate might be accustomed to using slang in their conversations. If they choose to use this language when communicating with your HR bot it’s likely the technology won’t understand the words being used.

This is also the case with abbreviated words or phrases.

Limited capability to answer with emotion

You might get a candidate who wants to add a little levity to the situation and makes a joke about software engineering (for example). In situations like these, an HR bot will have a limited capability to respond with equal emotion.

They will fail to pick up on humor, which might feel alienating and can run against the candidate experience.

5 recruitment chatbot examples

If you have decided that chatbots will make a significant decision to your tasks, here are five recruitment chatbot examples from top HR bot vendors to choose from.

Eightfold

The eightfold chatbot is capable of asking critical questions to applicants. It can analyze candidates’ skills, request that a candidate uploads their resume to a database, and match them to the ideal jobs.

HireVue

Reducing your workload with the HireVue chatbot is simple. This chatbot can take on tasks such as pre-screening and interview scheduling. It can provide answers to candidates as well – (in particular, it can give answers to frequently asked questions).

Humanly

The unique thing about Humanly is how easy and fast it is to use. This chatbot lets you schedule interviews and screen applicants with ease. It focuses on diversity and inclusion and can be used with an applicant tracking system

XOR

The XOR chatbot makes engaging your candidates a breeze as you connect with them using communication channels they are used to and familiar with. You will be able to automate dialogues, schedule interviews, and manage your conversations effortlessly.

Arya

The last of our recruitment chatbot examples is Arya. You can use it to ask your candidates questions to start the screening process and select the best candidates for the job. You will also be able to keep time and cost per hire low and put together the shortlist you’ve been looking for.

Choose an HR bot to take a load off
