Germany-based start-up mamgo describes itself as not the fifth wheel on the wagon, but a recruiter’s new autopilot. Recruitment Tech’s Martijn Hemminga caught up with Felix Kaden, mamgo’s sales manager for a podcast interview at the TNW conference 2023.
‘It’s about the right job board’
“Mamgo.io is a software as a service solution where job ads are posted automatically on different job platforms”, he says. “So the HR staff don’t have to do it themselves. It’s done by algorithm.” Those familiar with similar solutions may be inclined to call it multi-posting. But that’s not quite the same for mamgo, Kaden says.
“Maybe it’s the next step of multi-posting, because we recognise the problem with multi-posters is that they are generating much traffic, but it’s not really sustainable traffic. So you don’t have that much conversion. We make an algorithm that analyses the job description, the job title and everything and post it on the right job board.”
For mamgo, it’s not about reaching a lot of people but reaching the right people and go for quality.
“So our job postings are not on every job board, but in order for a job to appear on a job board, the job needs to be filled successfully. All of that to save money and time and get more applicants out of the job posting.” In essence for mamgo, it’s not about reaching a lot of people but reaching the right people and go for quality.
The ‘what the f’ moment
The company was initially founded three years ago. “Some of my colleagues working in a marketing agency used former competitor ClickIQ and they thought about could we make that solution better, with smart algorithms and so on. Then there was a what the f moment, which happens with nearly every startup. ClickIQ was bought by Indeed and suddenly out of the market. That was the moment where we said: ‘We have no real competitors on the market. We’re going for it now.”
Saving time and money
Mamgo’s SaaS solution is currently used by staff services, time-work companies. “Customers who who are in need of a lot of stuff and have that as their business model. Also, we are great for companies, smaller or bigger ones that regularly search people on job boards with job ads. If you do that regularly, we will save your money and time and bring you more applicants than if recruiters do it manually with, for example, multi-posters.”
The proof is in the numbers
When asked about the numbers mamgo is producing in case studies, Kaden isn’t shy to share. “Swedish recruitment agency Academic Work was one of our first customers. We saved them nearly 64% per application on job boards after just three months. We also did the same for Hays Switzerland, where we reduced their cost per application from 60 Swiss Franks to 30 and increased their qualified applicants with about 20%.”
Roadmap: better ChatGPT for recruitment
As far as a roadmap goes, Kaden and mamgo have their eyes set on optimising its ChatGPT connection. “I think ChatGPT can help recruiters. We have optimised its algorithm a bit so it’s not hallucinating when you ask it to write your job description or make a proposal for a job description. Your HR team can then do the final touches and publish it online, to save even more time. That’s our next step and it will be online next year, by the latest.”
